Damn "You"!

Damn 'You'!
All 'You' do is crib of hair loss, a non-size zero figure and a big fat nose...
When brave soldiers put up with disfigured limbs and a broken pose!!
And yet there are those who live with spoilt faces and a burnt skin
Thanks to the terrorist who rejoiced and danced into yet another sin!!

Damn 'You'!!
All 'You' do is mock the cold food served on a flight with more hue and cry...
'You' forget with no shame, no guilt; as you sit on cushioned chair in the sky...
The little kid at the traffic junction polishing shoes for a daily glass of milk,
Fathers assuming gravel, brick and tar weight to fend for a family so abject, so sick!

Damn 'You'!!
All 'You' do is fuss over passe clothes and mock the outdated cell phone...
While wearing mismatched rags street kids walk naked feet on hot stone!!
When the toast gets burnt, 'You' throw a fit; a slow internet gets 'You' to gripe...
On the street you walk beside hundreds who see no food, no aid - under the sun they ripe!!

Damn 'You'!!
All 'You' do is rant about the hefty drink that failed to induce a kick...
While on the footpath across the lane a mother sleeps with her baby, thirsty and sick!
A mother with a dry parched throat, her breast produced not a drop of milk...
Yet 'You', the damned 'You', snugged in your couch - cursed the slipcover for being linen and not silk! .

Damn 'You'!!
All 'You' do is suck up more power to run fans in empty rooms and coolers for men in coats...
While children in villages far away, train under oil lamps and in bleak light they wrote...
'You' ridiculed, gibed, sneered, scoffed and wasted...
While they endured, preserved, saved, smiled and adapted

Damn 'You'!!
My conscience cringes and heart aches that 'You' are so many...
But killed I am as I know, that most often than ever, its 'You' who are ME!

  3. Well written .. ( as mentioned earlier !! :P )...

Although I must confess , there's no reason to damn 'oneself' over the misery of others ...

I mean .. well you spend a bomb over flight charges ...you are entitled to blow hot over the cold food ...

The hundreds on the street outside ..... feel no 'unsolicited' sympathy for them . That's life .... Personally, we all have our tests to pass .. for those in the streets .. it is a much more harder test than perhaps what a Paris Hilton might face .. but to each his / her own misery.

Everyone cribs about a size zero figure & hair loss .. it's what makes us humans !!! not very sure how you brought the bravery of soldiers in the picture though .. :( .. Besides, a scar borne out of an accident or military operation sis a matter of honor to most ( nay .. all military men )

Never thought I would see it .. but you have managed to put 'breast milk' & the 'kick drink' in a continuing phrase .. !! Bravo !!! :P

Go on ... let the pages roll !!! :)

  4. @avinash .. In fact I totally agree with you. I'm a staunch believer in Celebrating Life.. Here, I have not once intended at crying over someone else's poverty or turning to austere living to justify your concern for others. No. No one should. If I have to exactly quote you - "dey cant compromise or sacrifice der comforts coz oders r deprived of it or keep thnking abt it every tym.." True. What I meant here is, for eg u may drive around in your high end luxurious car, but you cant afford to ram into the one riding a bicycle! You may chose to run the air-condition all day at your place, but is absolute irresponsible behavior to leave the fan and lights running in an empty room, especially in a country where Society as a whole is reeling under serious deficits. There are people in this country for whom electricity might be a luxury and have spent several nights in darkness. But as they say, its an infrastructural problem.. I was just pointing at the fact that we are a part of this infrastructure... Hence is a matter of being responsible to society. What's life without a few people to share your prosperity and fun? :-) :-)

  5. @sajit I love your analysis!
Not once have I suggested that we need to 'damn ourselves' for the misery of 'OTHERS'! You'hv come real close to grabbing the gist of this one. I was 'damning myself' all through for the misery of 'My' society.. (refer to last 2 lines) I'm sure I'hv had an important role like most of us in building a not-so- strong, not-so-robust system. Of,course I'm bound to blame the government for our loud poverty and infrastructural lag, but I'm simply re-enforcing that 'I' rather we have our share in the governance. :)

I am increasingly feeling that technology is so f**ing under-rated! I might miss a royal treatment onboard a flight and throw a fit! For god's sake do I realize I'm sitting on a chair in the SKY?? While I crib endless when it takes a few more seconds for a web-page to load, do I realize its the text that my friend's typing on the other side of the globe that is streaming on d screen in front of my eyes?? lol... I think some endurance can save us a lot of energy that can be utilized elsewhere wisely :) But yea, that's a personal thought!
